Clip College Hour Summary
Today, I attended a CLIP College hour in Room M136. There were two speakers: Andrew Muller and Jennifer Klein. First of all, Andrew Muller discussed Services for Students with Disabilities. The office is for disable students. They can help these students study in college. Also, Andrew showed us some products for disabled students. Next, Jennifer Klein talked about the Counseling Center. The Counseling Center has lots of services for students. For example, personal counseling, academic information and career counseling etc. If a student has problems, they can talk with their counselor. And the counselor can help the student solve the question. However, these two offices have different locations. The Services for Students with Disabilities is located in the science building 132 and the library 115. The Counseling Center is located in the library Room 422.

Paying for college
Today in college knowledge, we learned how to pay for college. First, Cindy introduce some ways to pay for college. Especially Financial Aid. Financial Aid is a kind of grant foe college. That can help us to pay for tuition. Some other ways are loan, scholarship and work study. Paul was talking about 7 ways to pay for college. First, use credit card. Second, electronic check. Third, check or money order by mail or in person. Then, tuition payment plan. Next, cash. Another is vouchers. Finally, financial aid.

Dear Sara,
We had a college hour today. But you were absent. We were talking about basic skill classes, speech classes and English 101. Basic skill classes are for ESL students who didn’t past ACT and CATW. They have three writing classes: 205,203,201. And two reading classes are 226 and 225. When you finish these classes, you are going to take placement test again. If you didn’t pass again, you will repeat taking these classes. If you pass the placement test, you may go to the English 101. English 101 is not an ESL class. And it has credits. Basic skill classes’ tuition is 195000. English 101 class is as the same as other college. Financial aid can pay for these classes. English 101 takes us one year to study. But basic skill classes’ semester depend on our progress. When we finish English 101, we are going to take English 102. It’s a higher level for English study. Mr. David Rothman and Mr. Mark Schiebe are good professors for basic skill classes and English 101. I hope this information can help you. And I hope you will have a good progress in CLIP then take the class that you want.
Best Wishes

CUNY Start& ASAP
Today I listened to a lecture on CUNY Start by Madhumita Chandra. CUNY Start is a program that help student improve math skill and English skill on the placement test. If you finished the CLIP program and took the test, based on your score, you can apply this program. However, CUNY Start requires the students who did not pass the math test. If you pass the math test, you can join CUNY Start. Furthermore, the spaces are limited, so students will be chosen by lottery system. CUNY Start is a great program because it has lots of benefits for students. This program just cost $75 for each semester. The schedule is really flexible. Finally, students who join CUNY Start have two more extra opportunities to retake placement tests.
Today I listened to a lecture on ASAP program by Najwa Argandwall. ASAP is a program that provides tuition and academic support. This program requires student enter into a full time associate degree program and at least 12 credits every semester. All majors accepted besides Nursing and Early childhood Education. This is a great program because it has lots of benefits for students. Students who joined this program can have enhanced career development services, tuition waivers and free monthly Metrocard.
